Ashleigh's Dream

Ashleigh was having a good dream. In it, she was a fairy, flying high up in the air. She was having a great time, and was on her way to see the queen of fairies. As she flew through her house, she was amazed at how big everything looked. She was amazed that the queen lived in her house. As she was flying, she wasn't looking where she was going.

Ashleigh flew right into a net. " I caught one!" A girl yelled. Ashleigh looked up to see that the "girl" was her sister. She yelled, " Don't! Let me go please! I am your sister!" but her voice was too small and was not recognized. Her sister's face came right down close to her's. Why wait a minute! Her sister thought. This looks an awful lot like my sister! Is that you? asked her sister. Ashleigh nodded.

Her sister smiled. Were do you need to go? She asked.  To the playroom castle, Ashleigh answered. So her sister took her to the castle, and Ashleigh finally got to meet the queen.

Chili Voting- Plus Lucky Story

Hello readers! Remember I was telling you about how I was going to enter the chili cookoff next year? Dad says I should probably start trying different recipes now so that I have it down by next year. But I have no idea what to make! I want you to help me decide what kind of chili I should make: Hot n' Spicy, Sweet, or Right in The Middle. What would you choose? Thank you! Please leave votes in the comments.

Hi again! It's me, Lucky! I am having a great day right now. Just before my mistress got up from bed, my master and I got in the car and drove to a place called Bellettetes. I enjoyed the car trip, as it was filled with delicious scents. But when we got to Bellettets, I got locked in the trunk of the car! How's that for not fair!

But when my master came back, he had a new scent about him.... the scent of .... TOILET!!!!!HE SMELLED LIKE A TOILET!!!!!! Wait. Oh. It was just the item he had bought at the store. My mistake. Well, I better go, as my owner just came back.... Bye!

Chili Cookoff

This Saturday, my family and I went to a chili cookoff at a local Harley Davidson. I didn't have much fun, since all there was to eat was CHILI, but Dad had the time of his life. He went around from table to table, and I think he tried EVERY CHILI! He really enjoyed himself.

Meanwhile, I was NOT having the time of my life. I was grumpy because there was nothing to eat, let alone do. And everyone in the whole place were bikers! I was really sad, and just sat with mom and Ashleigh eating some chips.

By the time we left, I was completely fed up. But now I have inspiration for next year: I am going to enter the cookoff and try to win! That will be a little more fun for me than sitting in a bunch of bikers. Wish me luck on creating my own recipe! And if you happen to have a good chili recipe you'd like to share, please do!

Bye for now,
Maddie

See The Similarities- Gaga and Lauper

Remember that Think a Thought I promised you? Here it is! I thought it very suspicious that these 2 had the same color and style- What do you think?

Lady Gaga
Cyndi Lauper

What's New Is Old, What's Old Is New

Dale Bozzio, 80's
I have been thinking about some of the groups from now and way back when, and I've found many similarities that lead me to think that some of today's groups are trying to copy yesterday's good groups with style. For example, take Lady Gaga and Dale Bozzio. Dale had rainbow colored hair back in the 80's when she went onstage, and now, you see Gaga with multicolored hair. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Also, you'll notice Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Avril Lavigne. The hair all goes back to Dale. The dressing style all goes back to Dale. I wish I could say music style, but I just can't. Nothing beats old music.
I hope you see the similarities- I sure do. I am doing a short Think A Thought after this comparing another oldies star to a newer star- Cya Then!

What Lying Does To Your Reputation

Lying is really bad to do. it damages you, and it also damages your reputation. If you tell too many lies, then people will never believe you. They will automatically think, oh, how can I believe that person, he/she always lies. What's to stop him/her from doing it now?

Example:
Joe is really embarrassed about not completing his homework. Instead of asking for help, he cheats and looks at the other kids' paper. When asked if that's what he did, he lies and says no. The teacher finds out, and tells Joe's parents. Ok, so one little lie. Not too bad. But then, Joe starts telling more lies .... and more lies ... until there is a pile so high he can't keep it balanced. Then, when they all tumble out, he has a very bad reputation for lying, and no one will believe him, not even when he is telling the truth. A good example of this is the story of the little boy who cried wolf.

Honesty is something you should always try to have. I know we all lie, but we shouldn't do it frequently. Lying doesn't really do anything for you. Someone always find out sooner or later. If you keep secrets, then when they finally come out, it's ten million times worse than if you had told the truth in the first time. So really, what does lying do for you? Absolutely nothing. I hope you learned a lesson from this. I hope I learn a lesson from this. I think I did.

My Poor Sister

My sister is sick! She had a temperature of 100.1 degrees today when we took her temperature. She wasn't feeling very good. I gave her a special mix of water and lemonade because she was so sad. I set up a bed for her on the couch before I went to my bible study, so that she would be comfortable.

When I came back from my bible study, the bed was messed up and my sister was in for a nap. So I made the bed again, and have another drink ready for her. I want to be the best sister in the world and help her get through being sick. I don't think I'll be doing karate tonight if she wakes up with a high temperature again.

Well, speaking of which, my sister is just starting to stir!  I better go and get her, as Dad is dealing with important business right now.

So long,
Maddie

Ashleigh's Dream ... Plus Happy Presidents Day!

Happy Presidents Day! ( How many more stupid holidays can this world come up with? ) I mean, what's even the point of it? Sure, so George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were born near the same day, but not on it. It's not even on one of their birthdays! What is the big attraction?

OK, onto the dream

Ashleigh saw herself running. She was looking for her favorite drink, milk. She knew it was in her cup, but she didn't know where her cup was. She decided it must be in the fridge ... But she couldn't open the fridge! It was still too big for her. Then, she remembered she was in a dream. " Well," she thought, " If I am in a dream, I can do what I want! I will walk through the refrigerator, get my cup, and come out."

So Ashleigh ran into the fridge, and went right through the door. She looked around for her cup, and saw it on the shelf. She grabbed it and tried to get out of the fridge, but she couldn't. She screamed, but no one could hear her.

Ashliegh decided that since she was stuck, she should keep her blood pumping and eat. There was a delicious chocolate cake smothered with icing in the fridge, so she started eating. She was so engrossed in the cake that she didn't even realize it when her sister opened the fridge and saw that her sister had ate the cake. She gave Ashleigh the LOOK, and Ashleigh was scared out of her dream.

Lucky Story

Today has been a good day for me. I have eaten, slept and even played a little with the alpha male. Then, my mistress came down and played with me for a bit. I got to go up to the main section of the house. The main section is the best part. It has chairs to jump on, food bits on the floor to lick, and the best smells. Besides, if I sit there long enough, I get human food!

Unfortunately, when the alpha came in and saw me, my fun ended. He sent me out, because whenever I am in there, I beg. Besides, the little mistress, the annoying one, was about to eat, so I would get kicked out anyway. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted. I am always kicked out, but I usually am let back in after meals.

Now my master is calling me, and I am going to get to go in the car! I love car rides with my master, as they are always exciting. I think he mentioned something about going to the grocery store, and every dog knows what that is! The food store!!!!!! Well, I gotta go, so bye!

Ice Skating

Hello Think A Thought readers! Today, I am going to go ice skating for the second time! The last time I tried, I looked like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to skate, but now I am getting the hang of it. I had to use tied together crates to start off, but now I can kind of skate on my own.

At first, I was afraid. I did not want to fall. So I held my nanny's hand to start. But then I started to skate on my own. I can't go fast, but I can sort of walk along. Today, I hope to practice skating on my own. I think I am pretty good at it.

The main trick to ice skating is not to slow down all the time. I do it a lot, and usually it ends with butt meeting ice. Trying to slow down trips you up, and if you don't move with the ice, then you fall. Falling doesn't hurt, it just surprises you.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day, readers! It's a day early, but I love to spread holiday cheer. What will be your highlight? Seeing family? Spreading love and cheer? Or those delicate chocolate candies that come in pretty boxes ... my personal favorite. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten my valentines out yet. I haven't even bought valentines yet ... I better get moving if I want to give them out tomorrow!

I go to bible study, and for holiday's we usually each cook something and bring it in. For Valentine's Day, I am going to bring in pretzels covered with pink white chocolate. Here is the recipe.

You will need:
1 bag white chocolate chips
Red food coloring
Red sugar sprinkles
Wax paper
Twisted pretzels

Prep:

Melt the white chocolate. Then, in a bowl, mix it with desired amount of red food coloring for color. Next, dip pretzels into the white chocolate mix, then lay them on wax paper. Sprinkle desired amount of sprinkles over. Freeze for a few hours, and then enjoy.

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day. I know I will.

How To Make Butter ( Easy )

Today, I made butter out of heavy cream. You may think making butter is very hard, but it actually is very easy. It all started when I asked my nanny how to make whipped cream the real way. From here, I am going to tell the story as it happened, like a play.

Act I
Me: Nancy, how do you make real whipped cream?
Nancy: Well, you have to take heavy cream, and then you put it in a bowl and whip it til it's whipped cream. It's very hard to do.
Me: Can I try?
Nancy: Sure. Nancy pours some cream into a bowl and hands me a whisk.
Me: I whip the cream for awhile.

Act II

Enter Dad.
Dad: What are you doing?
Me: Making old fashioned whipped cream!
Dad comes over.
Dad: I have to go to the bank.
Dad: Bet you can't make butter!!!
Me: Bet I can!
Dad leaves.
Me: Nancy, can I make butter?
Nancy: You can try.
I make butter, and collect the buttermilk, which I turn into soup for Lucky.
Dad comes home.
Me: I made butter Dad!

It is a long job to do, to get the cream to the right consistency. But I did it! So haha Dad! Girls can do anything!!!!!

The Hancock Hike

Today, I took a short hike through a small town called Hancock with a handful of other local girls. During the hike, we took turns reading excerpts from the book To Build A Fire by Jack London. We hiked from the library in Hancock to the woods behind the school, and there we collected dry wood and birch bark to build our very own fire!

Our group leader, Susie, showed us what types of sticks and bark we needed to build our fire. Once we gathered all the twigs we needed, we cleared a nice patch to build our fire. Once we had our fire going, we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. Then, we put our fire out by dumping snow on it and stamping on it.

In it all, I made a friend named Aria. Some of the smaller notes of the day included sliding down the hill to the woods on my back, since the snow was thick enough. Everyone slid down, even the adults. I also, before the hike, learned how to ice skate at a rink in a nearby town. My nanny, Nancy, helped me learn by tying milk crates together. I am now a pretty good skater.

Evolution Explained

Evolution .... What is it? Well, evolution is the timeline and shows how things progress. For example, we humans evolved from apes. It is not a complicated process. It is not even caused by the creatures. Here is how it works: The apes are all living in one place, and they have good environment and everything is fine. There are only a few apes that are different from the others, they are rare.

Then, one day, a disease comes and wipes out the normal apes, but the rare ones' DNA is different, and they know how to fight it. Suddenly, the other apes are gone, and the rare apes are breeding and reproducing, making them the dominant breed. This kept happening until we got to what we are now.

Now, this is only one example. There was a type of moth called the pepper moth. It was white with black spots. There was a tree that looked like it, and it was safe with it's camouflage. But then, the industrial revolution happened and the coal in the air from factories, the coal dust turned the trees black. This made the moths stand out.

Now, while the white and black moths where getting eaten, there was a breed that had only one white spot. It was harder to see, and it's survivability rate increased compared to the other moths, and it became the dominant breed, and soon this moth evolved into the normal moth. These changes were environmental, not at all because of the creatures.

I hope you understand evolution better.

Poetry

Mad
Some people make you mad,
But not because they want to,
They may just want their way first,
And probably so do you,
Arguing is a waste of time,
Over such a tiny crime,
Who really cares who took some cake?
Who cares whose turn it was to rake?
Next time you won't make the mistake,
Of wasting so much time.

Safe
When your small your safe,
From the troubles of the world,
You haven't taken your first step,
You don't know what it's like,
To go outside and be yourself,
To learn to ride a bike,
You only know the happy side,
But you don't know the bad,
And when you find it out,
It will make you sad.

Lucky Puppy

Today has been another on-off day for me. I have been allowed to roam in the upper part of the house ( finally ), so I sniffed out food that drops on the floor and down the chairs. When I lick at seemingly nothing, everyone looks at me weird. No one will ever understand what it is like to be a dog ... Every last smell one hundred times better.

I am now back in the office. I am sad, no one is playing with me! I have decided to try to take a nap ... AND IT CERTAINLY DOESN'T HELP TO HAVE LOUD MUSIC BLARING! My owners are always playing loud, obnoxious music, and it drives me up the wall!

Finally, my mistress has gotten up to play with me! How about some tug-o-war? Or wrestling? Or... WAIT A SECOND! I'M OVER HERE! NOOOOOOO! PLAY WITH ME! My mistress isn't playing with me! She's just going into the other room. At least I can try to take a nap ...

Baby School

A couple of days ago, I opened a baby school for Ashleigh to learn at. I have been teaching her writing and math, and her favorite, art. I have taught her how to raise her hand for "attendance", and she enjoys art class and snack time.

In art class, I usually let her draw on plain paper, and I am teaching her how to use glitter glue. She has helped me decorate a donations jar for the "school", which surprisingly turned out well. I am soon going to teach her how to fingerpaint and paint in general.

At snack time, I usually serve a cheese stick for her, and then we go to her little bookshelf and choose out a book for us to read together before she is dismissed from school. I try to do a weekly report on how she progressed.

Poems For Puppa Lucky

Puppa is my special name for Lucky. Here are some poems for Lucky.

Puppy Pal
Lucky is my puppy pal,
Who loves to run and play,
He's dug up lots of mice and snakes,
What will he find today?
My puppy pal and I,
We run around the yard,
Trying to catch my puppy,
Is very very hard.

Chomps
My puppa Lucky bit me,
And he was very bad,
My puppa Lucky bit me,
And made me very sad,
I told him he should stop it,
And try to sit and rest,
But puppa Lucky wouldn't,
And bit me at his best.
