Clutzy Me

Glass breaking in slow motionI am such a clutz. Today, I was helping Grandma make a turkey. I was oiling it, and had the oil I was using in a small glass bowl next to me on the kitchen counter. I finished oiling the turkey and opened the cabinet to get the seasoning to fix it up. The seasoning fell out of the cupboard on to me, and I flailed backwards. As I tumbled backwards, I knocked the glass bowl off of the counter and onto the floor. I bet you know what happened next.

Then, I cleaned up the glass. It had gone everywhere... behind the microwave, onto the stove, into the onions cooking on the stove, and into the toaster. The turkey was cooked for a long time with spices on it, and just came out of the oven 25 minutes ago.

Ok, so it is now after dinner. Everyone ate the turkey and enjoyed it, though it was a little dry. No one liked the stuffing but me. I don't know why, it had a great flavor and texture. The only thing that might turn some people off was the way it looked... barf.

Ok, I have only one more blog to do and then I am done with my work for today! Tomorrow I do my first course in songwriting- hurray!!! I will tell everyone how it goes in tomorrow's post.
Later,
Maddie

Promotion For My Dad's Website- Basset Hound Hideaway

The First thing you need to know is that this site is about you. Given that's the case, there are three special rules you need to know in regards to how I choose the dogs that are in my Hall of Honor and in my blog articles. I call them my every day specials...and there are three of them.

Special #1

If you volunteer at a Basset Hound Rescue or you provide foster care for Basset Hounds email me at wayne_nef@yahoo.com. Your dog or dogs will automatically be included in the Hall of Honor and I will write a short blog article introducing your pet to the community. I believe your hard work to help Basset Hounds should be recognized and I am happy to do it.

Also, if you work at a Rescue and you have a dog up for adoption that you want highlighted please let me know and I will try to put a nice introduction into the blog for the dog in question.

Special #2

I have a link on the right hand side of the page for the Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue donation page. If you make a donation to the Rescue (minimum $5) I will add your dog to the Basset Hound Hall Of Honor. To get your dog recognized in the Hall is really easy:

1. Click the link below or to the right.
2. Donate at least $5 (preferably more) via Paypal
3. Forward your PayPal receipt to: wayne_nef@yahoo.com along with a picture of your dog, your name, your dog's favorite hangout (ie your local dog park, hiking trail, etc.), and the dog's favorite treat.

Special #3

Buy something from our store (hosted by amazon.com) or through our advertising banners and email me what you bought along with a picture of your Basset Hound and some playful facts about your dog and I will feature them in a short blog article. Each article will include a picture of your dog and a few sentences. Please send those emails towayne_nef@yahoo.com and put Basset Hound Boutique article in the title. Please note that I may email you back for more info on your dog if it is needed.

This is my Dad's ad. I just copied and pasted it to my blog. If you'd like to check out his blog and get your dog featured on the hall of fame, please click here. You have to make a donation and have a basset hound to be featured. Look for more dog hideaways on the way soon!!!

Now on to my normal blog post. Our new stove arrived yesterday, so I have been baking, baking, baking. I have made bread, chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting, roast beef, and a DELICIOUS apple pie. Yum. I will write a paragraph on each and finally rate them at the end.

Bread-
First things first, the bread was starchy from the beginning. Second, it was also hard to knead. Hmmm... wonder how it'll turn out. Me and Grandma made it and kneaded it and baked it, and from all our labor all we got was a small, rock solid, disgusting little lump that was barely worthy of the title "bread". It almost broke my teeth, and was heavy and yucky in the center. The only thing that made it taste better was about a pound of butter and a gallon of jelly.

Chocolate Cupcakes w/ buttercream frosting (homemade)
"Those are the best cupcakes I have tasted in all my 74 years!" That was a direct quote from my Grandma after she tasted one of my delicious chocolate cupcakes. I used Pilsbury Dark Chocolate Cake Mix, and a recipe for frosting that came on the back of a WalMart icing pump. It was sooooooo good.... and the cupcakes came out perfectly moist.

Roast Beef- didn't make it, but it was rare and juicy and delicious- best I have ever tasted in all of my ELEVEN years.

Apple Pie-
The apple pie was delicious. Even though I was CONSTANTLY being told I was doing it wrong while I was making it, it came out delicious anyway. I added some maple syrup to the mix and also used brown sugar instead of white sugar. What a difference in flavor- so much better. The crust, which I made at home instead of buying one, came out crisp and buttery as well.

P.S. I know I promised you guys new stuff in my store each week, sorry I haven't had the time to do it! By Saturday, I promise!!!

Funny Photos

Sometimes, when I am browsing facebook I enjoy looking at funny pictures that people put up. Many of the pages have weird names, but are updated daily with hilarious photos. My favorite one is "If you're feeling down, here is a picture of a shaved llama." WHAT?!!!? See, I told you the names were weird. But the pictures are classic. *WARNING* Some are not meant for kids, so I will only put up a few. If you are going to look at more, please get your parent's permission. Here are my favorite funny pictures:

As you can see, some can be pretty stupid. But hey, isn't almost anything funny kind of stupid? I want to make this blog interesting, so I went and found a site where you can make your own captioned pictures. Here is one that I created using the site-

FLUFFY!!!!

Now, I propose a challenge- a funny challenge too- I challenge all of my readers to create a hilarious picture using the following link, and then save it on the site, and finally leave the link to your picture in the comments of this post. Do your worst, guys- or in this case, your funniest. The person with the funniest creation gets the picture featured in next Monday's Think a Thought!! The contest ends at 11:59 a.m. on Sunday, so please get your comments in by then.

Thanks,
Maddie

CONCERT IN JULY!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

Yesterday, as I was looking online on Victoria Justice's facebook page, it said she was going on a summer tour. I took a look at some of the places she was playing, and one of them happens to be Holmdel NJ, which is close to where our NJ house is! So I asked Dad if he would take me in July to go see her, because she is my favorite singer, but he said no, because we might be busy. But then my Grandma said she would buy tickets for me and Dad, so now me and my Dad  and my Aunt Michelle are going on the 13th of July to see her perform!

I am very excited to go and see her. Victoria is my favorite singer and actress. I am going to take tons of pictures at the concert and then post them up. Other than that, nothing very exciting has happened. My mom came over today, and we all gave Dad his birthday gifts. Oh yeah... that reminds me.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST DAD EVER!!!!!

Well, technically it isn't Dad's birthday, but since I don't blog on the weekends I decided to say it now. Dad is going to be 47. The start of a better year will be here soon, I hope.

Ok, well me and Dad are going to leave to get the concert tickets now, so I am going to end my blog here.

Buy-Buy Mama

Just a few days ago, my Dad launched a new online business that might catch your interest more than stocks... Dad opened an online store designed for moms to shop at. He named his store- buy-buy mama. He has everything stocked in his store- baby food, clothes, furniture, safety equipment, and even stuff for older kids. There is a section where you can shop for relatives as well. If you know of anyone who shops for their kids on Amazon, tell them  to check out Buy-Buy Mama at:
www.buybuymomma.blogspot.com

Here is the ad I made for buy-buy mama-

I hope you will check out buy-buy mama and give it good publicity- someone already made a $150 purchase out of the store.

Thanks in advance,
Maddie

Plastic Disaster

ALERT! ALERT! DISASTER STRIKES IN NEF HOUSEHOLD!

Well, I guess it isn't really that big of a disaster... But I'll let my readers decide that for themselves. Here is what happened:

Dad had just left for his 6:30 karate class on 2/19/2013. Me, Ashleigh and Grandma were busy in the kitchen making stuffed peppers for dinner. We had turned the oven on to preheat it so we could bake our peppers. I had just finished stuffing the peppers when the phone rang. Grandma ran to get it and it ended up being my Aunt Michelle. As they were having a gab-fest, me and Ashleigh were busy turning out lights to play a game while we waited for dinner. The only light left on was the oven.

Naturally me and Ashleigh went over near the oven to stay near the light, and when we did, Ashleigh pointed to the oven and asked me, "what's that?". I looked in the oven, and there on the top rack, melting away into a puddle, was a big plastic mixing bowl. Me and Ashleigh ran to get Grandma, but by that time, there was nothing we could do but stare. The oven started emitting some nasty smelling fumes, so I hurried Ashleigh, Lucky and myself into the small office and closed the door. The air was still clear in there. Me and Ashleigh snuggled up in our sleeping bags next to Lucky and sat and waited.

Dad took the news very well when he came home, probably since he had just been to karate. Whenever he comes home from karate he is always happy. The plastic was melted and disgusting, and chemical smell filled the house at this point. We ate our dinner in the small office. We definitely need a new oven. So today we went out and we got a new one. It is much like our old one, with just slight changes. However, it cannot be delivered until Tuesday of next week, so Dad's party has to be put off until then.

That's basically the only excitement that happened to me since yesterday. We discovered who the guilty party was: Grandma. She had been in a hurry to clean up and had absentmindedly stuck the bowl in the oven. Then, when we turned it on, not knowing it was in there it melted. So what do you think? Tragedy or not?

News

Today I opened a store on my blog! Dad discovered a program called Amazon Affiliates where you can create a store and sell stuff on it! If anyone uses my store to get to amazon and then buys something, I get 4% of the money! All of my earnings are going into a bank account for college. So if you need to buy something on amazon, please use the link to my store to get there! If you do, I get 4%! Thank you in advance! (The store can be accessed by clicking the link to it in the section "pages" at the right of your screen) :)
Right now, my store's merchandise includes:

Rare Monster High Dolls

Collector's Book Sets

iPod Accessories

Also, you might be wondering why I changed my blog's background so early. The reason for this is this week is my Dad's birthday! Since coffee is my Dad's favorite drink, and I couldn't find a background of balloons, I put my background as coffee beans! Dad will be turning 47 on the 23rd of February. Last year was Dad's Platinum Birthday- he turned 46 on the 23rd. His Double Platinum Birthday will be his 69th.

I have a family party all planned out for Dad- With decorations, party favors, and I am going to make him a cake on Friday. I want Dad to have the best day ever- he tries so hard to be the best he can for me and my little sister. I love him so much. He works hard to make the best of things even when things don't seem so great. Me and Ashleigh look up to you so much Dad, and love you with all our hearts.

Italy

Italy is one of the only countries in the world that has a distinct shape. Italy is shaped like a boot. However, many nasty jokes usually spring from this, the most frequent one being: "Why is Italy shaped like a boot? 'Cause they couldn't fit that much poop in a shoe!" But people really shouldn't make fun of Italy. Without Italy, there would be no pizza! Calzones! Lasagna! Ice Cream! Even mozzarella! These are all dishes that were invented in Italy. I don't think that I could live in a world without pizza.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Italy is known for more than food, however. In fact, it is best known for it's religious influence on the world! More than 95% of Italians are Roman Catholic. Celebrating the church's many religious festivals is one of the main parts of Italian religious life. Vatican City in Rome is home of the pope, who is the head of the church. Vatican City is also renowned for it's wonderful collection of art, and for the world's largest church, St. Peter's Basilica.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa
Rome is the capital of Italy. As of 2011, 3.57 million people lived there. That's over half of Italy's population! Rome is known for it's fine churches and old Colosseum, which is basically a work of art left standing. Colosseums were used to entertain people, mainly with gruesome live performances of gladiator against wild beast.

But then again, all of Italy is full of culture and old art. Just take a look at the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Started in 1173, this building was already tilting before it was complete! Soft dirt was removed by professionals, who also added led weights to the foundation of the tower. However, they left it crooked, probably for tourism reasons.

I hope everyone enjoyed this post and learned something from it. I know I did.

The Different Water Cycles

Water goes through many different cycles depending on what temperature it is. The cycles are:

Water Cycle Animation created by me =)

Steam and Clouds
When the water evaporates, it creates steam. The steam, which is lighter than air, travels upwards and creates clouds. Evaporation is caused when water hits something extremely hot, or when the sun hits water. While the sun can soak up small things, like puddles, it cannot evaporate large quantities of water, like ponds, lakes, and rivers.

Rain
Rain comes from the clouds, hence the next step in the water cycle. The evaporated water cause a heaviness in the clouds, and this causes rain to fall as the clouds release the water. If there is a hot pavement below, this can sometimes cause mist, which is a form of steam. From rain, the cycle usually restarts. But on occasion, the cycle takes a couple of extra steps.

Snow and Hail
When the temperature drops below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, there is a good chance that ordinary rain will take it's harder form of cold snow. However, the snow is not all that can fall- snow's dangerous cousin, hail, can also be created at these low temperatures. Hailstones are hard ice-balls that fall from the sky and reek havoc on Earth. They have been known to get up to the size of baseballs, and destroy cars and anything else made of glass. They can also kill a person easily, as shown in the slideshow.

Hope you enjoy the slideshow, you can see it in the link above.

Lucky

I have not written about my dog in awhile, and I figured today was the perfect day to bring him up, since he will be 2 on the 6th of March. Birthdays are flying up everywhere... Ashleigh's, Dad's, and now Lucky's. I can't believe I have had my dog for roughly 2 years. They have been very memorable. He has since competed in 2 Halloween costume contests, placing 2nd in both.

The first year he went as a robot, and he was just over a year old. He ended up running out of his costume and stealing the show with his excellent tricks and adorable nature. The second year, he went as a karate guy and won second place for his skilled tricks, and the fact that a snobby poodle would not back off. That poodle wins every single year... AND IT WON'T EVEN DO IT'S STUPID TRICKS RIGHT!!!!! Lucky had the contest fair and square. He performed his tricks PERFECTLY, and that poodle couldn't even sit, even when it's butt was pushed down!

Moving on ...... >=(  Lucky now knows how to walk on his hind legs very well! This just adds to his list of tricks, which include:

Sit
Stay
Down
Up (stands on hind legs)
Come
Paw
Up and Come (walks on hind legs)
Roll Over
Kissies (licks hand)
No Bite
Goodnight (goes to crate)

Lucky also knows a few words. Many experiments have shown that dogs have the mental capacity of a two year old. Lucky remembers a good few words, including:

Food
Lucky's reaction to "food" is always perking his ears and sitting straight up. Even if he is sound asleep, he will wake up in a heartbeat for "food". Food also counts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which he also knows.

Bad
Lucky DEFINITELY knows bad. If I say bad, he sulks. If Ashleigh says bad, he shrugs it off. But if DAD says the b-word, Lucky knows that HE'S BEEN BAD. He hangs his head and his tail goes between his legs, and he sits like that for a minute before going into a sulky mood. After a few minutes, he snaps out of it and is happy.

Good Boy
Lucky loves those two words. Whenever he hears them, his tail wags at 100 mph and he opens his mouth so it looks like he is smiling.

Play
Lucky on New Years Eve
Lucky knows the word play, and whenever you say it, he will go right for his bone or whatever toy happens to be closest to him. If it doesn't look like you are going to play, he will consistently nudge you with the toy until you break down and play with him. Lucky can also identify a few of his toys, including: Wubba, Bone, Ball.

Out
Lucky will usually let you know if he wants out. He sits there looking at you, and if you guess out, he will wag his tail and bound over to the door. The one thing odd is that instead of barking to come in, he will leap up on the door and scratch it with his paws. The only times I hear my dog bark is when he is chained and can't see us, or when he is dreaming and sleep barks.

I hope you enjoyed this post about Lucky.

Coursera

A few days ago, Dad discovered something to help me with my homeschooling. It is an online program called coursera that is absolutely free. It offers people free online college courses in many topics. Dad, (who goes for about ANYTHING free,) decided to sign me up for a course on songwriting. It start March 1st. I am very excited as I enjoy singing and attempting to write my own music. Hopefully this course will teach me how to do so properly.

The cool thing about coursera is that you have to actually do homework and get it in by a certain time. Coursera also allows other students to review other students' work and tell them how they are doing and share ideas. For the songwriting class, I think you have to write a song and sing it following the teachers instructions. You need an attachable microphone or your computer's built in microphone. It doesn't matter how well you sing, as the course is on writing, not performing.

The courses require you to put in about 8-6 hours a week, at any time you choose to work with your schedule, and runs for about 7 weeks. You take about 4 courses a week. I have previously taken college courses, but they are pre-taped and on a disk, and there are no time assignments, so this will be something totally new for me. If you want to give coursera a try for free, go to www.coursera.org.

If and when you successfully complete a course, you get a college certificate signed by the professor of your course stating that you successfully completed a college course. Dad says this will help me when I get to college. When I go to college, Dad suggests I go for business management since I hope to start my own bakery someday. Also, I would like to go to a culinary school at some point after college.

I Hate Spiders!!!!!

I have ALWAYS hated spiders. They are ugly and creepy and crawly, and they always turn up wherever they are not supposed to be. For example: A few minutes ago, I went to the sink to get some water, and there, crawling up the sink, was an ugly little spider! So then, before I could get my water, I had to go through the terrible process of drowning the poor little thing and flushing him down the drain. Yuck and amen.

The most famous spider story that can be told in my family, however, is the story of the door spider. A few years ago, it was spring and Dad had refused to cut the lawn, so it was pretty darn long. Now, one day, as I was walking out the door to go to karate, I saw IT. IT was a giant spider that was dangling from the doorway, with a huge web up. The thing's body had to be at least the size of a small grape, and the legs were very long. I told Dad, and he said leave it so we could watch it. I looked it up, and I found out that the type of spider usually lived in fields and meadows. Was our lawn really that bad???

The type of spider ended up being a hideous orb weaver spider. It matched the description perfectly- milky white, round web, and large size. I think I get my arachnophobia from my mom. Back when I used to live in NJ, there were gigantic wolf spiders everywhere and my mom used to freak out all the time. But honestly, would you like seeing this every time you turned the corner?

Well, no offense to anyone who has a pet spider, but I really wish that spiders would just die and never come back. Life would be perfect if I never saw another spider EVER AGAIN! Especially tarantulas, wolf spiders, and orb-weavers. I guess Daddy Long-legs could stay since they are so small.

ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST BELOVED AUTHORS DIES AT 74
By Madison Nef
Samuel Clemmens, better known as the great humorist, Mark Twain, passed away in his New England home at 6:22 a.m., on April 21st, 1910. He died of a heart attack. For 14 years, Twain had been through deep depression following the death of his favorite daughter, Susy, and his wife, Livy. His other daughter, Jean, also died. Some say depression led to the heart attack. I personally think that while that is probably true, loneliness probably had something to do with it as well. Though loneliness might have led up to the attack, during his last days, Twain was not alone. His remaining family stayed by his bed until his last breath. Twain, in his last days, was unconscious most of the time. In the time that he was awake, however, he enjoyed reading Carlyle’s French Revolution. He had been reading the book all year and kept re-reading it. As he couldn’t speak clearly during his last days, he would write his words down on paper. One of his most frequent messages was: “hand me my glasses”. On the 20th, Twain seemed to make an amazing recovery. Sadly, the recovery was a fake, and Twain fell back into another coma, this time permanently. His last words were: “Get me my glasses”.
The Career of Mark Twain
Mark Twain is probably most famous for his classic books and speeches. From Innocents Abroad to the very end, Mark Twain kept his audiences laughing and entertained. Perhaps that is why his work still lives on today, over a century after his death. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn have become classic children’s books and are now read by 10-13 year-olds around the world. Teen and adult alike still enjoy reading some of Twain’s work for older people, such as the Tragedy of Puddn’head Wilson, and Innocents Abroad. Twain was also famous for taking lecture tours around the world. Twain was a humorist, and could always keep his crowd in stitches. However, he had trained himself to keep a straight face while doing his jokes and stories, making believe that it was a very serious matter; nothing to joke about. Twain uses the same deadpan humor in his novels. The reader is just above the level of the book so as to see the humor in it, and to the character in the book, they seem to see nothing funny, even if they have just said a joke. Twain also lets his characters tell the story, such as in Huckleberry Finn, where he turns the novel over to Huck. The story from that point on is told from Huck’s point of view, which means from the perspective of a young, un-schooled boy. Twain went to great lengths to make sure that even years after his death, his work could not be copied. This ended after his last living descendant died without children in the 20th century.

The Life of Samuel Clemmens
Samuel Clemmens was a very different person from Mark Twain. While in some sense they were the same people, they had two different faces. Mark Twain was the face that Clemmens used to shield the public from the sorrow and loneliness in his life. Clemmens wanted attention, and wanted love. He wanted to be noticed by everyone. But that comes later. Clemmens was born into a town on the Mississippi, and all his childhood wanted nothing more than to leave. When he was 17, he left to pursue his dreams of becoming a silver miner in the west. He ended up being a failure, but while in the saloons in the west heard some outrageous tales that he would later use to create his much-loved books. He returned to Connecticut and married his friends younger sister, Livy. He told her she had to make him into a better person. He had 4 children with her. His first child was a son, who died when he was but 3 months old.  He also had 3 daughters, Susy, Clara, and Jean. While he was going on one of his lecture tours, his favorite daughter Susy died at their home from pneumonia. Livy tried to get back in time to see her, but Clemmens received a telegram while she was heading back that Susy had passed. This dealt a hard blow for Clemmens. Even worse, his beloved wife Livy died 2 years later. This made Clemmens lonely, and he started moping and writing stories about failure and depression. These stories were not published until after his death. Yet another strike came when Clemmens was forced to declare bankruptcy after investing all his money in the latest invention, a type-setting machine that promised to bring in tons of money. Clemmens’ plan was to strike it rich off of the machine and open up his own publishing business, never having to write a book again. However, his plan backfired when the type-setting machine failed to work and updates were never made. Clemmens had invested in many other inventions before, but this one sucked 30,000 dollars away from him and drove him into bankruptcy.
The End of Twain???
Twain, in his time, was among the greatest authors in America. In the 21st century, while he is not the greatest author, he is among one of the most beloved of the 19th century authors. His work lives on to this day, and with his work, Twain himself lives on through the readers of his work. Twain was a literary genius that will always have a special place in the hearts of all readers of his books. Mark Twain and Samuel Clemmens both hold different places in the world; Mark Twain, the greatly loved author and humorist, and Samuel Clemmens, the darker side of Twain, the one that felt the emotional pain and the hardship. In a way, Clemmens wore Twain as a mask for the time he was needed, and fooled everyone into feeling happy, and making them believe that he himself felt this. As Shakespeare once said, “the world is a stage, and we all wear many masks and play many different parts”. After reading this, we must ask ourselves: was Samuel Clemmens really a person to love? An idol to look up to? What do we love, his books and speeches, or him? Ask yourself this. I think that we found ourseleves looking up to Clemmens through his writing and speeches, and without that, Clemmens would be a person that had barely any dignity and that would have no one looking up to him except his children.

Wizard101 Central
The Friendly Necromancer
Valerian's School For Wayward Wizards

For those of you who don't know what a screenshot is or how to take one, here are the instructions (only works for Wizard101)

  2. Find a good location that you want to take the picture in. I recommend a setting created using housing objects.
  3. Pose!
  4. Hit the "prtscn" button on your keyboard.
If you followed these instructions, a blue message should flash across the bottom of your screen saying where the image was stored, etc. etc.

Next, click on the "Wizard101 Facebook Page" button on this page. This should take you to the contest page. Enter, and then you just sit back and see if you win!

Karate Words- Translated!

Some of the words you can hear at my karate school can be pretty weird, but they all have a meaning. Here I will tell you what some of these words mean. Some of them are weapons, so I'll also tell what they are and how they are used.

Dojo

Dojo means training hall. A training hall is a place where students go to work out. Though training halls have differed over the years, they remain a safe, harmonious place to be taught karate.

Nunchuks

The word comes from the Okinawa word for two equal sticks. Nunchuks are weapons that are spun by one of the sticks. Two sticks are connected together by a usually short rope. These were not always weapons, however. In Okinawa they were used by farmers to strip the rice from the stem. When the samurai took all of the weapons, they were forced to turn many farm tools into weapons. This is where many traditional karate weapons, such as the sai, come from.

Sai

The sai, another Okinawan weapon, means hairpin. The name fits, as the sai is shaped exactly like a hair pin. They were used to hold carriages together. Today, the sais are taught as a competitive form for tournaments. They are not a common choice of weapon, however. Many people prefer the bo staff or the nunchuks.

The Teacher Ranks

Hanshi- Head of house, highest rank.

Shihan- Master

Sensei- Teacher

Nidan- 2nd Degree Black Belt

Shodan- 1st Degree Black Belt

I don't really want to go into any more description than this because I don't know some of the words and I don't want to give inaccurate descriptions and stories.

Wizard101

Not my mount!
There is a new W101 pack out in the crowns shop, THE SKYVERN'S HOARD! The skyvern hoard gives you a chance to win new Azteca themed gear and weapons, the brand new velociraptor pet, and the ultimate prize- the two-player skyvern mount! The pack is now in the crowns shop for 399 crowns. Also, as part of pack-a-palooza, the nightmare and yuletide packs have been brought back for a limited time. Also, all packs are currently half off.
I have been doing really good on Wizard101. My character, Marissa Mooncloud, is currently a level 64. I am not trying to level her up right now, I am saving up for a house that I really want. I have 55437 gold out of the 100,000 that I need. The house that I am saving for is the Island Getaway.

For those of you that do not play Wizard101, the Island Getaway is this really fancy house. When you walk in the door, there is a beach with waves crashing, and there's a waterfall with a cave behind it .... It is just very beautiful and I NEED it. I am confident that I can get it because I have saved that amount of gold in the past with no problems. For some reason, this time it is taking me a lot longer to earn the money.

Well, I have 3 more math problems to do before the day is done, plus a lecture on Mark Twain, so I am going to end my think a thought here.

My Newest Blog

As most of you probably don't know, I have a new blog out! It is for my science lesson, and it is called Maddie's Minerals. So far, I have made 2 posts: Diamond and Carbon. It will be all about different minerals and elements. It can be reached by going to www.maddiesminerals.blogspot.com

Preview- (This is only half the post, for the other half please visit the blog.)

A diamond is another form of carbon, formed over billions of years under extreme pressure and heat. Volcanic eruptions bring them to the Earth's surface. Every year, companies mine about 57000 pounds of diamonds. They are worth billions of dollars. The most diamonds are found in Africa. There are a number of ways to produce synthetic diamonds, including high-pressure high-temperature synthesis, chemical vapor deposition, and detonation synthesis. While not as expensive as real diamond, it still costs a pretty penny at 200 dollars per carat. The first synthetic diamond was produced in the 1950's.

The word "diamond" comes from the Greek word for "unbreakable". The name is perfect, since the only thing that can scratch a diamond is another diamond. On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, diamond ranks a ten. Ten is the hardest on the scale, and one is the softest. Diamonds can cut through any material except another diamond, in which case they can just leave scratches.

For more, please visit my blog. I hope everyone likes it, as I spent a good portion of time on it.
