Tournament

Well, the tournament went off on Saturday- and it went great. Not only was I able to compete, but I also spent some time with friends I hadn't seen in awhile. Being my divisions went off at the end of the tournament, I was able to watch my friends compete and hang out with my other friends while they weren't. Before I move on to what I got, I would like to congratulate all of my fellow competitors. Everyone did great!

As for how I did, I did pretty good. I took second place in 13 and Under Black Belt Weapons and another second place in 13 and Under Black Belt Forms. Then, I took first in 13 and Under Black Belt Sparring... and that is the division that matters the most to Dad. I have to admit, I do enjoy sparring. But I like forms and weapons better. Don't get me wrong, I love sparring- but I love forms and weapons more.

October is almost here! I have to change my blog's background now- something that is very Halloweenish. I STILL do not know what I am going to go as. I think I am just going to wait and see. However, I already have Lucky's costume picked.... remember the poodle that I hate? Well, with just a white shirt and pants, some cotton balls, glue and a pink bow, I can turn Lucky INTO that poodle.... TAH-DAH!

Other than that, on Saturday, I went to sleep and watched some trick videos when I got home. If you want to learn some cool tricks, just search "10 Bets You Can Always Win" on youtube. The tricks are really cool and actually work- I have tried a few. Maybe a little later I will post a few that I have tried. But as for now, I am going to end this post here.

Flying Food?!

GREAT Japanese food with Steve, Kyle Nelson & Madison Margaret - YUMMY!!!!!
At the restaurant =)
Today, my good friend Kyle and his family took me out to eat for his 12th birthday. We went to this really good place called Koto and it was like a Hibachi grill. We had counter seats, and a chef came out and put on a show for us.

Me and my friend ordered steak, Lo Mein, and pork dumplings, and boy was it good! This place gave SUCH big portions- I think they gave us about a half a box of noodles... EACH!

The chef put on a real cool show, lighting the stove on fire, juggling the knives, and preparing the food. It was unbelievable... to describe it you would have had to be there. In between the prep, the chef chopped up some zucchini and flipped little pieces at us- and Kyle caught them. I missed though, and got hit in the nose with one and then caught the second. It was very good! I ordered my steak rare- and I got it rare. It was browned on the outside, and the rest was basically raw- mm-mm-mmm!

Then came the soups, salads, and pork dumplings, PLUS the pasta. And just when I thought I couldn't eat any more- out came the fried ice cream. IT BROKE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS! Ice cream shouldn't be fried- but it was delicious. It was like a dough around it, and on the inside was this perfect tasting, COLD vanilla ice cream. It was literal perfection. Plus, everyone in the restaurant came and stood around singing "Happy Birthday" to Kyle. It was a great time. Thanks for taking me, if you are reading this, and Happy Birthday Kyle!

Ways to Conquer a Cold- WITHOUT Medicine!!!

I don't know about my readers, but I do NOT like medicine. It is usually horrible tasting, gloppy, and doesn't work well. Whenever I get sick, I like to try my own methods to cure the cold before going to the cabinet for medicine. So far, my tricks have worked- I was sick yesterday, and today I feel a hundred times better! Here are the steps you need to take to get rid of the common cold:

  1. Clean your ears with hydrogen peroxide. Take a tissue, wet the end of it with hydrogen peroxide, and then squeeze a drop into your ear. Keep your head tilted to the side. You should hear a fizzling sound and feel the peroxide tingling in your ear. Don't worry, it just means it is doing it's job. When the noise stops, tilt your head to get the remainder of the peroxide out and then repeat with the other ear.
  2. For sore throats, I can recommend nothing better than honey. Take about 1 1/2 teaspoons of it and it will make you able to swallow without hurting again! It coats your throat, just like medicine, but it has a nicer flavor AND is natural.
  3. Sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep. I did the above and then slept in, and today- no more cold. One last thing- these remedies will not work if you snirch (as in don't blow your nose.) I managed to avoid getting mucus in my throat by blowing my nose no matter what.
  4. Use a humidifier. I recommend a cool mist humidifier and leaving it on in your room with the door closed for about 4 hours. Then, go to sleep and your nose should be clear.
  5. Use Vicks Vaporub. I like using the cream and rubbing it around my nose and the underside of my throat. It opens up my sinuses, and helps me clear my nose.
Well, that's how I beat back my cold! And I didn't use a drop of yucky medicine.... bleh! However, if you have a fever, you SHOULD take medicine, otherwise it could be dangerous. I advise to only use the above method if your cold has just begun and you want to stop it in it's tracks.

Hope this was helpful,
Maddie

My Sick Sister

I feel so bad for my little sister right now! She has a really bad cold, and has a blocked up nose and chest. She slept in to 11 today- which is a rarity. Usually, she is up by 9. I, being the wonderful big sister that I am, created a little activity list for me and Ash to follow. This list includes:

  • Decorating Pumpkins (with marker)
  • Watch a Movie- Scooby-Doo
  • Get Our Nails Painted
  • Do a Halloween Craft
  • Take a Nap
  • Play on my iPod
  • Make Mixed Berry Muffins
  • Play
  • Color
  • and.... make Gummy Worm Pudding.
What is Gummy Worm Pudding, you ask? Well, it is something very fun, easy, and cheap to make. It is basically chocolate pudding and cookies with gummy worms in it. Here is how to make it:

You Will Need:
1 package Double Stuff Oreos
2 boxes of chocolate JELL-O pudding (I recommend using instant)
1 bag of gummy worms

First, take your Oreos and put them in a ziplock plastic bag. Leave out a few for snacking, and then crush the rest. Now, make your pudding as instructed on the box. Once it is set, divide it evenly into small bowls. Now, add a layer of cookie crumbs. Add more pudding, and then another layer of crumbs on top of that. Next, open up your gummy worms and dig them into the 'dirt'. You can also add them in between layers if you want.

TAH-DAH! Super easy, super-cheap, and most importantly super-fun. Now, I promised my sister I would go paint her pumpkin with her, so....

The Star Wars Story

“Haha, got you!” I said to my sister, laughing. My sister turned around and scowled at me. I am Calli, and my sister is Anna. I am 12, and my sister is 5. We often play games of Star Wars on our computers…as we were doing now. Basically, you get on a server, and you are each on a side. You get to choose from about 5 different characters, and then you try to capture command posts, shoot guys, and avoid getting killed yourself. She and I can play HOURS of this game. I grinned and kept shooting. She grumbled to herself, and then hit respawn.

My character ran through Cloud City, shooting everything in her midst. I grinned as I saw my sister running at me. I dropped a time bomb and ran for it. My sister ran right over the time bomb- just as it exploded. I grinned again and kept going. Just then, a message popped up from Anna. “Hey, why are we on the same team?” it said. I double checked that we were, and we were actually on the same team! I was shocked, because that never happened. “I don’t know, bug glitch maybe?”
My Dad called downstairs “Come on up girls, it is midnight!” Me and Anna shut down our games and ran upstairs. “’Night,” I called to Anna. “Night, sis,” she called back. I scrambled into my pj’s, turned out the lights, and closed my eyes.

“MOVE! MOVE!” Huh? I thought to myself groggily. I sat up in my bed- but there was a problem. I wasn’t in my bed! Instead, I was sitting on a marble floor in a white room. I was still in my pj’s, and sitting on the floor next to me was my sister, who was staring upwards with a look of shock on her face. I too looked up, and saw something I didn't quite believe.

Standing over me and Anna was a storm trooper from our game! I was shocked. “Move, MOVE!” the trooper said to us again. Me and Anna hopped to our feet and looked about. I saw a window in the room, ran to look out. WE WERE IN CLOUD CITY! I couldn't believe it! How had this happened? My sister ran over to me and held onto me. “Calli, where are we?” she asked. “I don’t want to believe it, but….Cloud City!” I stammered. “I need backup!” cried the trooper from across the room. I gasped as laser flickered through the room. Pouring out of a hallway that I hadn't noticed until now were rebel soldiers, guns in hand!

I grabbed my sister’s hand and ran to the dead soldier’s body. I grabbed the gun, and started shooting at the soldiers. My sister clutched onto me and screamed as a bullet zoomed past her head. Finally, after what seemed like forever, I fought off the soldiers. I turned to tell my sister that it was alright, but she wasn’t there! I looked around the room, and saw the soldier’s bodies fading. There was no other way out of the room- so she must be here! Just then, I heard a beep behind me, and saw my sister standing there. “Where were you!?” I yelped at her. “I died,” she replied softly. “I think I respawned…it didn’t hurt.” She seemed in shock. “Well, there is no use in waiting here,” I told her. “Let’s move on and see what we can find.”

We ran down the hallway, hand in hand, and found ourselves in a stairwell that spiraled downwards. I heard shooting going on down the stairs, so we instead headed into a separate tunnel. The tunnel lead out to a bridge in a black room, and the bridge had no railing. Just a narrow strip of metal leading to another tunnel across the room. I nervously stepped onto the bridge, and started walking across. My sister followed close behind me.

We followed the tunnel on the opposite side of the bridge into a large room that I recognized as the Carbon Freezing Chamber. I saw a few troopers standing by weapon dispensers, and so I automatically ran over and got a weapon for my sister. I explained to her how to use it, but she shrugged me off and said she knew, she had played the game too. I walked to the lower part of the chamber, and heard a noise in the corner. Upon investigating, I found a boy! A real boy, from the REAL world!! I was so excited.

“Hello, who are you?” I asked him. “Jack,” he said. I told him me and Anna’s names, and then started chatting with him. He explained to me that he had also gotten sucked into the game, and that after time he learned that only if he defeated the rebels was he able to leave the game. Once you complete one fight, you were free. So far, he had not been able to, and he begged me and Anna to help him. He told me that the only way to even come CLOSE to defeating them was by waiting here, in the Freezing Chamber, and then when the rest of the soldiers were killed, the rest would come down here. Then, he usually tried to kill them, but with no avail. “Now that you and Anna are here,” he finished, “we may stand a chance.”

So Jack, Anna and I waited. I learned that he was from a small town in Texas. After awhile, I took a liking to him…he was friendly, funny, and VERY cute. He had tanned skin and dark, curly hair with warm brown eyes. My sister and I looked like the exact opposite of him! We both have straight, platinum blond hair, pale skin, and big, blue eyes. After an hour or two, we heard footsteps on the bridge. We all picked up our guns, and got ready to fight.

Rebel soldiers poured in from all angles, guns pointing towards us. Jack leaped to his feet and shot down 5 soldiers in a matter of seconds. I picked up my rifle, and started shooting the rebels coming in at the side passage. The more I shot, the more comfortable I got. My sister had two little pistols, and was helping Jack take out snipers on the bridge. Things actually seemed to be going our way!
But it was too good to be true. We ran out of ammo quickly, and with all the machines down and soldiers coming in like water to a sinking ship, we were surrounded and defeated. It took a few moments, and then we all respawned again. We were back in Cloud City, back in the Freezing Chamber, with hours ahead of us before the real battle begun. But this time, me and my sister explored a bit. We found a tunnel leading up to a hidden ledge above the bridge- perfect for picking off unsuspecting rebel soldiers as they tried to swarm in on us.

I stationed my sister on the ledge, and me and Jack took the chamber. As we sat, we talked- I told him all about how my sister and I lived in a log cabin on a mountain in New Hampshire, and he told me how he lived with his 3 brothers out in a small town in Texas. We talked for hours, just exchanging stories, laughing, and joking around. We even exchanged email addresses so that if we ever got out of the game, we could be e-pals. Soon, it would be time for our fight. We planned on heading out to the bridge a few minutes before the fight, so that we could meet the rebels in battle.
Finally, it was time. We rushed out to the bridge, guns pointed at the tunnel. The soldiers swept around in a wave, and we all shot at them. My sister had good aim, and picked off 10 of the rebels in a minute. As one of the soldiers fell, I saw something interesting on him. I bent over his body and pulled off a small wristwatch. On it was a small counter showing how many rebels were left. There were 100 rebels- against just the three of us.

The rebels pushed us back into the chamber. There were only 25 left! I was so happy, I couldn’t believe it! We could actually make it! We shot down 24…but no more came. It still said that there was one more person left! Suddenly, a message flashed on my watch: “Good fight. See you in Jabba’s Dungeon, suckers!” I gasped! How could that be!? How could my watch receive a message? I turned to ask my sister and Jack if they were playing a trick on me, but the battle was already finished and we were respawning in a new level.

The new level was strange. I checked my watch- only 50 rebel soldiers this level! I was pretty happy. I looked about for Jack and Anna. I remembered this level, and knew a way we could easily defeat it. Anna was standing a few feet away from me, but I couldn’t see Jack. I pulled her to the side. “Sis, I am about to share with you the way I always defeat this level in the game. There is a hidden tunnel, and if we go there, the rebels cannot get in. It seems in this game, it doesn’t matter about command posts, only if you survive. I have a suspicion, but I need to find Jack first.”

With that said, I grabbed my sister and sat her in the hidden tunnel, and told her not to move and inch until I got back. Then, I stepped out to look for Jack. I crept quietly up the stairs and looked around. There was a hangout up here, and there, sleeping on one of the couches, was Jack! I ran over and shook him awake, and told him to follow me. He got up, and, looking sleepy, followed me to the tunnel.

The tunnel was a dark, underground cave, almost, and it smelled of rot. There were a few benches, and health and ammo machines as well. I explained to Anna and Jack that if we stayed here, we would never lose the battle as the computer programmed rebels couldn’t come in to my knowledge. I said that if we each took turns, going out to kill rebels, we would be certain to win!

Then, I confronted them with my fear: There was another real person in the game-one that was NOT on our team. I told them about the message that had appeared on my watch. Jack was shocked. “How could there be another person- one that we have never even seen?” he asked. “I’ve been stuck in this game for 3 days now- and I have not seen anyone else!” I wondered about that too. “Obviously it is an advanced user, since it knows how to change board levels AND communicate through the watch,” I said. “Calli,” said my sister, “if it is a real person, can’t it find us here?” “Yes,” I replied, “But it would be one against three, it wouldn’t stand a chance.”

Anna and I took the first turn out on the kill. We each took a passageway to defend and killed 20 during our first turn out. Anna was able to sneak back into the cave and refuel, but I got killed and had to respawn before returning. “The rebels aren’t really that tough,” I said to Jack. “You sure?” he said. “Anna said you got killed.” “Yea, yea, but I stepped on a mine. It wasn’t my fault,” I argued. “Now get out there and wipe those rebels out!” With that, Jack stepped out and started shooting.

I watched the score of the fight as he fought. We were down to ten fighters, eleven if you counted the mystery person. Jack returned, and Anna and I went out to kill the last ten. After we were done, we returned to the cave to consult with Jack. Jack was sitting in the corner, huddled into a little ball. “Oh my gosh, what happened!?” I gasped, running over to him. “It- v-v-visited me,” he mumbled. “What is it?” I asked, trying to keep calm. “Th-THAT!” he screamed, and pointed behind me and my sister.

The thing must have been 7 feet tall. It was wearing a huge metallic suit with a saw coming out of its hand. It was scary! Poor Anna screamed and dove under one of the benches, whimpering and shaking with fright. Then, it spoke. “Hahaha! Now you shall die… and I shall at last be free!” Slowly, the suit stripped down until a small girl stood there. She had jet black hair and brown eyes, and had an evil smirk on her face. “Who are you!?” I exclaimed angrily, stomping up to the girl and staring down at her.

“I am Jetta,” the girl replied. “I, much like you three, was also sucked into the game. I have been here for 3 years now, trying to escape- and I cannot unless I defeat everything. I have learned many hacks and cheats, but have not been able to defeat the game without someone left over. Only one team can escape the game, you see, and it will be me!” She laughed maniacally, growing back into her suit. She raised the saw and slashed down Jack and Anna, leaving me standing there with a shocked look upon my face. “Goodbye,” she said, laughing.

I stood up. I was back in Cloud City. Anna was there, and so was Jack. We were all wearing suits, as if we were a permanent part of the game. Jack hung his head. “We are defeated,” he said sadly. “I shall never see my family again!” And with that, he broke down crying.

I felt bad for him, I really did. I couldn’t believe we were stuck in this infernal game! There had to be some way out, there just had to be! Why would Jetta have waited for Anna and me when she could have just killed Jack to be out of the game? Was she bluffing? Were these suits just one of the hacks to make us think we lost? WAS there a real exit out of the evil game? I pondered all these questions as I shot rebels down, one at a time.

We defeated the rebels, and I wondered what would happen next. I looked down at my little watch to see if Jetta was still in the game. I doubted it, but- WAIT! My watch said zero, but on the map below us, a tiny red speck was running towards the Freezing Chamber! “Aha!” I cried, showing Jack and Anna. “She never left, the bluffer- let’s go get her, once and for all!” With that, we all charged down the tunnels into the Freezing Chamber.

We ran in, and almost hurled ourselves over the edge of the chamber because we were running so fast. “Where is she?” asked Jack, breathing heavy. “I don’t know,” I answered. “My watch said she was right here!” I looked at it again, and it said she was right in the room with us. “Look for her,” I commanded. “She might have used an invisibility hack.” I walked right to where the dot was on my map, and stood on it.

“Show yourself!” I yelled. Slowly, Jetta faded into view a few feet away from me. “I- I cannot leave,” she muttered. “Yeah, neither can we!” I said angrily. “Well don’t yell at me!” she cried. “I just want to get back to my family, like you guys! I don’t want to be a rebel, I want to be a trooper!” “Then be a trooper!” I exclaimed. “You don’t have to fight for the rebels- just join our team!”

So Jetta joined us. She was actually really nice, once you got to know her. She told us that she had not been used to sharing the game, and was trying to scare us into leaving her alone. We sat in the Freezing Chamber, since there were no more rebels left other then Jetta, and talked. Anna had an idea: She figured that since Jetta was so good with hacks, she could just combine a couple that would get us out of the game!

“I didn’t think of that!” exclaimed Jetta. “I will give it a try. First, you need to sit in a circle… Ok, good. Now hold hands and I will type in the code on my watch.” Jetta typed in a bunch of code and pressed the button. Jack shimmered- and then disappeared. Jetta smiled. “I got it,” she said. “I just need to add in a multiplier to make us all go.” She pressed a few more buttons, and suddenly, I and my sister and she were flying through the air and then- it stopped.

I sat straight up in my bed. Was all of that a dream? I wondered to myself. I ran down the hall to Anna’s room. She, too, was sitting up in her bed, wide awake. “Was that real?” I asked her. “I think so,” said Anna, wearily. “Well, I am going to go email Jack,” I said. “If he remembers, we will know it was real.” I emailed Jack, even though it was late at night, and got an almost automatic response. He did remember our adventure, and wished to stay in contact with me and Anna.

We did stay in contact, and Jack even came down from Texas one summer to visit me and Anna. It was a nice visit, and the next summer, me and Anna visited him. We all wondered where Jetta was from, for we never heard a word from her again, and for the rest of our lives, none of us could explain how we had come to be inside a game.

My First Dance (Casual)

I am so excited! One of my friends' schools is having a dance this Friday, and they invited me to go with them! It is just a casual dance, but still! When I asked Dad, I assumed it would go something like this:

Me: "Hey Dad, my friend wants me to go with them to a dance-"
Dad: "No, no, a THOUSAND times no."
But instead, it went more like this:
Me: "Hey Dad, my friend invited me to go with them to a dance this Friday, can I pleeeeeeeeease go?"
Dad: "You know how to defend yourself?"
Me: "Yes."
Dad: "(rambles on about safety stuff, just the basics)"
Dad: "Fine, but you have to get ALL of your homework done EVERY day."
Me: "OK!!!"

And so now I am going to my first dance! Yippeeee! Since it is casual, it is going to be basically hanging out. I am going to wear a t-shirt and jeans. I am still excited... if you are a girl, you will understand the excitement of this. If you are a boy- well, I don't know how to explain it then.

Other than that, I started a new unit on coursera- with a new professor. Instead of Walter (my personal favorite), I got the other professor- Ram. He is alright, but just not as good as Walter.

Well, I really have to hurry if I want to get my work done, so I will end this post here.

News

If you were wondering why there was no blog post on Friday, then here is the explanation: I took my first Coursera quiz.... and aced it! I got a 90 after 3 attempts, but since only your highest score counts, I basically got an A!

As I think I have mentioned before, there are 4 main quizzes for the whole course, one for each three weeks, and since I got an A, that means that 1/4 of my grade (which counts towards my completion of the course) is an A! I am very happy.

I am almost done with my work for today- I am happy. After this, I only have 2 math to do... and my lectures. Gosh.. I am so mad at my dog right now. I had to stop blogging and go out and get him- he had torn apart the stuff that Dad had put down to help our garden.

We are putting rocks around the big rock and there is grey stuff that goes underneath... and that is what Lucky tore up. Boy, did I give him a scolding when he came in. He won't be doing that again anytime soon.

Later next year, me and Dad are going to try to publish a poetry book for my mom (I know, this is off topic from the last paragraph, but I wanted to talk about it). It was always my mom's dream to have her poetry put into a book. She was a REALLY good poet, so we are trying to find all of her poetry and then we will add some of ours, and then try to make a book. I will blog more about that if and when we do it.

I have one and a half math left now, and I really want to get done early again, so I am going to end this post here.

iPod Blogging, and Family

This post, I wanted to try something different and new- blogging from my iPod! I recently got the Blogger app for my iPod and wanted to test it to see if it works, so I am currently up in the comfort of my room blogging. Then, the only thing I will have to do is go downstairs for one minute and arrange the pictures the way I want them!

Today, I really wanted to do an article on family, and how much they help you out... So I am going to try to do a paragraph on dad, Ashleigh, grandma and lucky. I will start with Ashleigh: She is a wonderful little sister, and even though she can be annoying sometimes, I don't know what I would do without her. She always hangs out with me, and looks up to me as a role model. She doesn't mind making short movies with me, even if it takes hours.... And she loves me, and I most certainly love her. Thanks sis.

Grandma: Grandma, even though we may have our scuffles, I love you and learn A TON from you. I love you so much, and you always help me out with stuff: be it girl talks, cooking, or even reading books with me. I also am having fun teaching you to use the computer (which, by the way, you are doing AWESOME with). I love you Grandma.

Dad: Dad, words cannot describe how much I love you. You are raising and teaching me and my sister SO well. I thank you for everything I know. You give me fun assignments for school, and introduce me to things that I end up trying even though I deny liking them... Such as movies, food, and iced apple cider. I love to talk with you about everything, and enjoy our little outings, even if they are short. I love you dad. Thanks.

And last but not least... Lucky: You are my loyal companion and best friend. I love going out hiking with you and taking our daily walks down the driveway. I enjoy playing and wrestling with you, and entering you in the Howl-o-Ween contest to beat the poodle... And I love you.

Done Early!

I am starting to like this getting up early stuff! At first, I was almost falling asleep and rolling out of bed, but now my body is adjusting to the new time and it is actually kind of nice. I get up, take my shower, eat breakfast, do 2/3 of my math, take an hour nap (I need it, otherwise I would fall asleep), and then come down to finish off my work. I am almost done now... and it is not even 12 noon yet! I think there has only been 1 or 2 occasions where this has happened, so I am happy.

I have not talked about my Logic and Arguing course in a while (or whatever it is called)! The course is still pretty fun, but there was one part I really hated- close analysis. Basically, you had to go over EVERY SINGLE WORD in 5 paragraphs and mark a letter that represented what it stood for next to it. To make matters worse, the teacher went over it, and there were about 3 30 minute lectures. Dad actually fell asleep! THAT is how boring it was.

Other than that, it has been pretty cool though. I have my first quiz this week, and I think I am prepared. I cannot believe I have been doing the course for nearly a month... it has been easy so it has not seemed dragged out. Dad helps me, and so we are both learning stuff from the class.

Also, it is 9/11 today... I cannot say that I know too much about the day, as my mom had been pregnant with me when it happened. Dad said that we had been a long way from the city and he heard the boom as they went down though... he actually knew someone who died in the accident. RIP all who died in 9/11.

News

Today, I had a great day! I got to hang out with my friend Alena for a bit after karate. Me and Dad did class, and then Dad had to stay and help with a test, so me and Alena hung out in the parking lot giggling, chatting, and just having fun in general.

When we got home, I was able to catch 2 HUGE toads. They were sitting right on the driveway... I had no problems catching them. Here is a picture of the bigger one:

Well, if my computer will let me, I want to try recording the toad through my webcam. I am going to try and if it works I will upload it. It worked!

I think..... I might have done 2 clips. I have never done video from webcam so if there are two clips, you know why. There is no sound because I did not have my microphone hooked up. Anyway, there he is! For some reason my video isn't working... I am sorry I thought it was.

Well, I just took a break from writing and caught 3 more toads- 1 tree frog and 2 toads. Has anyone reading my blog ever caught a wild toad/tree frog? If so, leave a comment and/or picture telling about it (no one ever comments, so you don't REALLY have to haha).

Well, I have two minerals left to do so I am going to end this post here.

Anniversary of my Blog and Lemon Meringue Pie Video

Some of you might not know this, but 3 days ago, it was my blog's two year anniversary! I am amazed that I have been blogging for so long. Now, I promised everyone a lemon meringue pie video today, and I spent 3 hours preparing it. I am very proud of it. However, it is taking literally FOREVER to download to my computer, so I decided to yatter on about my blog for a moment. I am going to go out for a bit, and HOPEFULLY the stupid thing will be loaded when I am back.

Here is the video!

Enjoy!

Hating Guess and Check Math!

I know, "guess and check math is EASY", but not for me. I find it annoying that there is no real 'simple' method like there usually is in math- I have learned that almost ANY math problem has a really hard, make-your-head-explode, punch-your-fist-through-the-computer way of doing things, and then there is the one minute version. Not with this....

No, with THIS you have to go through every stinkin' number looking for the answer! It took me about 2 hours to finally work through the questions, but hey- at least it is done and I hopefully will not have to do guess and check EVER, EVER again.

Also, I would like to apologize for not having a good post yesterday... I was VERY tired and did horrible. Needless to say, I got about an hour of sleep after finishing the post and so was a happy camper after that. I promise that it will not happen again (not the 2 hours of sleep, that would be bad- I mean the bad post won't happen again).

Other than math, nothing else has really been going on today. I made myself lunch and went on facebook. And that is basically it! There is no karate today, so we might go out a little later to the store or something like that. Well, I am going to end this post here. Oh, one last thing: for Monday's post, I am going to attempt to make a YouTube video on how to make lemon meringue pie- wish me luck!

SO TIRED

As the title states, I am tired... I got up at 6:45 today, and have felt sluggish, even though I ate and drank something AND took my shower. I tried making myself some caffeinated tea to kick-start my day, but it didn't work... It is actually just making me more sleepy. I am hoping that if I can get my blog post done, Dad will allow me 20 minutes of sleep.

Gah! I feel like a zombie! If anyone has any tricks on what to do when you feel like you're going to roll over and fall asleep, it would be highly appreciated if you left them in the comments below. Geez... I am falling asleep writing this! Faster, faster, I gotta type faster.

I want to get this post done. I am sorry for rambling a bit. I REALLY feel bad right now. I feel kind of dizzy now too... not good.  Well, at least I'll get this post out at least. But after I do, I am COLLAPSING onto my bed.

Well, please leave helpful 'stay-awake' comments down below. They are more appreciated then you would think. Well, I apologize for being kind of random with this post. I REALLY REALLY NEED to sleep right now. I don't want to hurt myself.

So Many Views!

Thank you all my readers! I have been running this blog for about 3 years now, and I have almost 6000 pageviews! I NEVER thought that my blog would be read that many times!

I started off with a few local readers- and now I have them from across the globe! Last month alone, my blog got almost 700 pageviews. I am soooooo happy! I love my blogging, and I am very proud to have gotten this far. Thank you!

Since I know better than to make my blog JUST thank-you's (though I'd love to), I am going to instead talk about... Well, dang it! Now I don't even know! I was going to include some stumbleupon links but I could not find anything interesting enough to put in my post... except for this brutally honest yet funny picture.

Well, I have to get ready for karate soon, and I am supposed to go to the deli with Grandma, so I will end this post here. Once again, thank you for reading my blog :)

Getting Done Early! WOO-HOO!

Today, Dad got me up at 6:30 a.m.... I was so tired. I ate breakfast (1/2 an english muffin w/ nutella and cereal) and then took a shower. When I was done I hopped straight to work. I have a list of 6 math that have to be done by the end of the week, so what I did was make myself a schedule:

Tuesday (today) - 1 math, Think a Thought, 3 lectures
Wednesday - 2 math, Think a Thought, 3 lectures
Thursday - 2 math, Think a Thought, 3 lectures
Friday - 1 math, Think a Thought, 3 lectures

And that sums up my week in schoolwork! I have already finished my math, and am almost done for the day.... it is only 8:00! I am so happy. Later I have to go to karate.. I have 2 classes today since I didn't do class yesterday (due to Labor Day). By the way, Dad surprised us yesterday by taking us out to Keene... I got my work cut in half!

Walking around in Keene was fun, except for the fact that I had a migraine. No, I am not exaggerating.... I actually DO get them. They are not pleasant. They are throbbing headaches that occur near your temples and nest themselves behind your eyeballs, making you sensitive to light, smell, and loud noises. Activity (i.e. walking) makes it worse. The migraines are often triggered by something, such as stress, or lack of food or sleep. I had one yesterday, and it RUINED MY DAY. It made it hard for me to sleep as well... I was up to about 1 because my head was pounding.

Well, I am now done! See you in the next post,

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day! There is one thing I do not get about this holiday, and that is it's name. Why is it called Labor Day if you get the day off? It should be called something more realistic, like Un-Labor Day or something. But I decided to do a little research on today and find out why it is called what it is... Give me a moment, I am Googling.

Wow... Labor Day started a looooooooooooooong time ago. It started when children employed at a silk mill in 1835 stood up and went on a strike for the day. From there on in, every Labor Day people went on a strike.

Finally, in 1970 when the mail worker went on strike and no mail was delivered, President Nixon declared a state of national emergency. Since then, Labor Day has usually been the last weekend of summer for everyone to remind us of the labors we must go back to- adults to work, and children to school (except for me, I always do school!).

Well, you learn something new every day, huh? I never would have thought that that was the reason. I hope everyone reading this learned a little something... I know I did.
