Higgens Armory

Tomorrow, I am going to a place called Higgens Armory. It has the largest collection of medieval knights armor in New England. It recently opened a Viking section, which Dad is dying to see. I want to see the armor the medieval horses wore in the old days. I hope they have it. It is odd that horses wore armor- but then again if one got hurt it would bring the rider to his death.

I was hoping it would be a Dad and Maddie day, but it turns out my sister and grandmother are coming. Maybe some other time. Anyway, after the trip tomorrow, I will post pictures etc. about how everything went. Today I have been sewing a purse for my mom, no pattern. I just evened out some rags and stitched them together. It looks real pretty.

My mom bought a house today! It is a fixer-upper, but it is going to be good once it is done. Mom can always make a house a home.  She has artistic flair, and I am going to help her paint and re-design. She already has her lawn mowed, so soon, she should be ready to move in. WOOT WOOT, THREE CHEERS FOR MOM!!!!!

Awesome Easy Cheese Pizza ( My Recipe )

You Will Need:
2 tortilla shells
3 cheese sticks
1 cup of grated mozzarella cheese
Butter
*1 cup tomato sauce

Prep: Place one tortilla shell on a plate. Butter it to your desire. Sprinkle your grated mozzarella cheese evenly over the butter. Now put one and a half of the cheese sticks, chopped up, on top of the grated cheese. Put the second tortilla on top of the first. On top of this, place the other one and a half cheese sticks evenly. Put this concoction in the microwave for 1:30, one minute and thirty seconds, and enjoy!

* Pasta sauce is optional. I do not make it with tomato sauce since my sister is allergic to tomato. If you were to make it with tomato sauce, add the one cup before you put the second tortilla on top of the first.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day everybody! Today, I get a day off from schoolwork! The reason I get the day off is because the market is closed so Dad doesn't have work and neither do I. But that isn't the real reason behind Memorial Day. Memorial Day, shockingly enough, is to honor the DEAD! The dead soldiers that fought in wars, useless, un-needed wars might I add, and gave their lives for our country.

There are a few known ways on how people spend Memorial Day:

  1. FIREWORKS!!!!!
  2. A cookout that usually ends in fireworks.
  3. A small family get-together, none too exciting but better than #4.
  4. Sitting at home alone, frowning and not appreciating your day off.
So, how do you spend your Memorial Day? Chilling out with friends? Hanging with family? Or, dare I ask, slouching at home not appreciating your day off? Please tell me how you spent your Memorial Day in the comments.

Bowling

Today, instead of getting up and doing schoolwork like normal, I went bowling with my best friend Cassie! She is going away for a country-round trip this year, and won't be back until next year. I am really going to miss you  Cassie!!!! She is going to be starting a blog too, so we can still chat and stuff, but it won't be the same. She is leaving this Tuesday, so that was my last time seeing her before she goes.

Bowling was fun. I won both rounds, as Cassie and I played against each other. It was my second time bowling in my life, and I won 2 games. Not bad, eh? Cassie was only 1 point behind me on one game. There is an arcade at the bowling alley, so Cassie and I went and spent a few dollars on games and getting tickets. By the time we were done, we had about 300.

Attached to the  the bowling alley was the next best thing- a pizza place! I am sure you can guess what we had for lunch- PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was really good. Then, we played a few more arcade games. There is an air hockey table, and Cassie and I started a long and hard game of air hockey. Cassie beat me, 7-3.

By this time it was about time to go, so Cassie and I combined our tickets to get 3 fun-dips ( one for Kelly, Cassie's adorable little sister), 3 small packs of cards, a fart whistle, a fake bug, and a candy bracelet. If the skee ball machines were not broken, we probably would have played those and gotten even more tickets.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

CD Making

Today, I started making DVD's. It is super fun and easy to do. I use the Windows DVD Maker. You can choose the pictures and or videos to go on your DVD. You also choose music, menu style, and font. It is fun. Here are the steps on how to do it:

  1. Install Windows DVD Maker ( If it isn't already installed. )
  2. Insert a blank CD into your computer.
  3. Open Windows DVD Maker.
  4. You should see a screen with a button that says add items. Click on it.
  5. Choose your photos/videos.
  6. Click next.
  7. Choose your menu type, font, etc.
  8. Next, you should be able to choose music. It will give you a selection of all music uploaded onto your computer.
Click finish when you are done. A box should pop up saying Creating DVD. Wait until it is finished, and then you can watch your DVD. Congrats!

Please leave questions in the comments section. Also leave results on how your DVD turned out.

OVER 1000 PAGE VIEWS!!!!

I just checked my page views today for Maddies Think-A-Thought, and I realized that I had over 1000 pageviews!  Thank you guys for viewing my site so much. It means a lot to me. If only I knew that I had more than 2 readers ... ( Hint hint, please, PLEASE tell people about my site! ) I have over 100 posts up on this site, and it would mean a lot to me if more people read it.

Anyway, here are a few updates to Think A Thought.

  • From now on, leave readers' requests in the most recent Think a Thought, so that I see them. I don't have time to look down every Think a Thought each day.
  • Due to a few complaints, I have re-designed Think a thought so it is easier to read.

Thanks for reading Maddies Think a Thought!

P.S. Everyone, please leave your ideas for a new design for Think a Thought. If you don't like my new design, just pipe up.

Introducing Some New ANIMALS On Maddie's Think a Thought

Due to a readers request ( Thank you!), I will be introducing some new animals in along with my Lucky Wuppa. The new cast of characters that will be accompanying Lucky are-

Maggie- A lovable basset hound with a heart as big as her bark
Willy- A basset hound mix with an attitude of protection and love
Carasoua-  A beautiful pony that loves apples, honey n' oats bars, and attention

I will be posting pictures of these new characters soon. For now, here is a full characterization of them.

Maggie-

Maggie is a female basset hound of about 2, and she loves running and playing. She lives with her brother, Willy, who can be overprotective of her at times. Lucky is known to have a crush on her, but sadly, he rarely gets to visit her as she lives many states away. She has a loud bark when people annoy her, but mostly she is an adorable, lovable dog.

Willy-

Willy is 3 years old, and lives a few states away with his sister Maggie. He loves her a lot, and if Lucky tries to mess with her, it is bark and bites ville for Lucky. He doesn't really like Lucky, mostly because of Maggie. He is a sweet dog, but can get snappy. He also likes running around.

Carasoua-

Carasoua I do not know much about. I know he likes the outdoors, apples that I feed him, and especially Oats n' Honey bars. One time I showed him one, and he galloped over to me and ate it right out of my hand. He is slowly warming up to me.

Readers Requests, PLEASE!!!!!

This is a think a thought in which I BEG YOU FOR IDEAS!!! I am accepting readers requests, and you are letting me down. I don't think I have received one request this year. I am disappointed. I think I barely have any readers anyway. My site isn't public because I am young, but it would help if my readers told people about my site.

Also, feel free to complain, I will try to fix my mistakes. Everyone makes them, and everyone can fix them. Please tell me what I am doing wrong! Or, even better, tell me what you look for in a good website. Is it games, cool stories, news, videos, WHAT!?! I don't care, I want to please my readers. So please, if you want something fixed, or something added, I will take your comment into consideration.

PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS!

Peeling The Facebook Onion- Ways to have fun on Facebook

What I do on facebook, ( since their isn't much for a ten year old girl to do,) is I look at some of my friends funny photos. They take them from people who live for laughs, and post it as their status. So what I do is I look for who they stole the photo from, and click their albums. From their I look through the pics, most of which are funny, and share some.

Example:

I like that people take time out of their day to make albums for people to look through just to have a laugh. I have run across albums with 4000+ photos in them. No joke. It's so nice that people do that. I'd like to take a second to thank the people who do that. I don't know if they check the comments on the photos, but there are so many people who get enjoyment from those pictures. I got this one from Jokes 'R Us.

You should try doing this sometime- it's really fun and easy to do.

Test Scores

Yesterday, I went in for a reading and math test. I went back today for my results. I was a little worried about my math score, but after I received the paper, I was overjoyed. My math score was- above 11th grade! I was so happy I could sing. And when my Dad, who does my homeschooling, saw that I had gotten the same score on reading, he almost did a backflip!

I was very happy about my score. In fact, me and dad ended up going for ice cream at 11:00 in the morning to celebrate. I was one happy camper. I don't have to do a test till next year now, so I am super duper happy. ( I think that half the think a thought is saying I'm happy. ) In any case, I am getting a little bit of a break on school work today, and I'm not going to waste it. Relaxation, here I come!

Poetry

Tests
Tests are run all day and night,
Underneath a bright spotlight,
The tester mice begin to scatter,
For the fear of tests,
They dare not patter,
Inside the lab at night is creepy,
Potions and pills to make you sleepy,
Bottles lined up on the shelves,
So small some could be made by elves,
And when the doctors fall asleep,
into the lab the burglars creep,
Nine potions do they steal but then,
A daring one says lets take ten,
The leaders yells at him,
YOU FOOL!
YOU KNOW THAT TAKING NINE'S OUR RULE!
Just then a siren let out a wail,
He screamed, WE'LL ALL BE SENT TO JAIL!!!
And so they were, and till this day,
They have learned to work and pay.

My Hot Wuppa

Lucky has been coming in from outside hot and worn out, now that the warm weather has set in. I have been rough housing with him as usual, but he is not taking it very well. He has been snappy, and very hard to deal with. So, after getting almost bitten, I decided to give him an ice cube to cool him off. It worked like magic.

In no time, Lucky was back to his happy-go-(lucky) self, and was frolicking and having a good time. I figured that heat affects the dog's mood, so if your dog is hot and sweaty, don't bother him/her. Give your dog an ice cube or 2, and watch their mood change. It's really good. It refreshes their whole body and keeps them from dripping saliva all over the place.

Also make sure your dog gets outside enough. While it might make him hot and sweaty, it gives him a lot of fresh air. It gives him good exercise, and makes sure he is in shape. You'll never have a fat dog if you put your dog out for a nice run in the yard or park once a day.

Lucky Story

I have been having a somewhat decent day. I got let outside at 7:00, with no mention what-so-ever of breakfast, and was forced to stay out their until 10:45 for my food. Then, when I did get inside, my owner had STILL forgotten to put food in my bowl. How ANNOYING! So I guess that part of the day didn't go so well. But still, at least I did eat.

Then, when I went to go to the gate in the hall that blocks off the top part of the house, I got shrieked at and sent to my cage by my mistress. Apparently the alpha male wasn't here, because HE would have prevented that. But NO, he leaves ME with the crazy one and goes off on his own to pick up someone. HMPH! I am the family pet, I always get taken places! Evidently not today though.

Now my master is back. I am rejoicing!( Though I must say, I had a nice nap.) HALLELUJAH! He returns! Oh thank heavens!!!!! Now he has brought the alpha female as well. So now I am soaking in a bath of attention. She always gives me biscuits. Not this time though. Ah well. I still love attention. Now I am relaxed and chewing my bone.

There has been no report of the small one all day... Maybe she has gone on vacation or something. Or MAYBE SHE IS AFRAID OF ME!!!! Have my dreams come true? Do I never have to put up with her again? Or is she just not being a bugger today? Only time will tell. Till then,
Lucky

Test

Today,at 9:00 a.m, Dad went in to test for his brown belt stripe. I am going to congratulate him right away, since I know he will pass. Even though he has an injured knee, he still went. Good luck and good job! Hanshi rarely flunks anyone on the test list. Basically, you've earned the belt when you're on the list, you just have to survive the workout.

Now, when Dad comes back, he will be my rank. I am happy for him. He will hopefully get his black belt soon.   Maybe even before me. Hopefully so, because I'm not ready yet. I'm too young, and I doubt I'd survive the black belt test. In belt ranking, yes, but in technique, no way. I need more work.

I hope Dad  doesn't hurt his knee. He has had a torn PCL for a while now, and we don't have enough money coming in for him to get an operation. He still does karate, and can do a lot of stuff, but it makes it hard for him to get around easily. I hope he can get an operation soon.

Well, see you when you get back, Dad. I love you and I hope you get the rank. I know you will. I'm worried about your knee, but I have a feeling it will hold up. It better, or I am going to get mad. Get the stupid operation already!!!!!

Rainy Week

This week has been very rainy. I find it miserable. It doesn't make things better that I have been told it will be rainy all week. Blech! So I have proposed to make a list of things to do on a rainy day and share them with you online. We all agree rainy days are boring, right? Well, they are. So, here is my list of rainy day things to do instead of lounging and doing nothing.

#1- Relax. Kick back and chill out, for heavens' sake! You work all week and never get a break! Calm down, sit down, read a good book you've wanted to read forever,  and listen to some good music.

#2- Play a game. Find your favorite card or board, or even computer game and play for a little while. See if you can break a family record, or move a level up.

#3- Sleep in. You who are always up at 2:00a.m, sleeping in? What nonsense. But these few rainy days, take a load off and sleep in till 10:00. Who cares about missed calls? Not you. All you care about is sleeping.

#4- Cook. Surprise your family with a delicious meal cooked by you! If you're looking for an easy first-time recipe, I suggest pulled pork made in a crockpot. It is very delicious and very simple.

#5- Do Housework. Clean the house a bit to surprise your family. They know that you are a slob, and will be thrilled to see the house after its makeover. Just don't tell them that the mess just gets shoved into your closet... or else.

Poetry About Lucky

Loving
Unreal
Childish
Kissy
Yourself
LUCKY.

Lucky honey,
Lucky dear,
So ever-loving and sincere,
You may be smart,
You may be dumb,
You may be prettier than some,
Some people breed their dogs,
For vanity and fame,
But I would never leave you,
You're my Wuppa just the same,
Though some can dance and others sing,
Happiness they cannot bring,
Because no one can replace you, Lucky.

My Poor Lucky

Lucky has been down in the dumps today. I bet everyone is wondering why, since Lucky is rarely down in the dumps. Here is how it started: It was late last night. Dad had just put Lucky out for the last time to go to the bathroom. That's when it happened. Lucky was an innocent victim. He found .... A PORCUPINE. He turned to run away from it, but it pricked him- 200 quills in the back leg.

Dad spent an entire hour pulling quills out- and didn't even get all of them. some had inserted themselves into him, and will fall out on their own. So Lucky limps about for now, sore and exhausted from last night. Me and my family took pity on him, and he has gotten special treatment since. Only pats for the Puppa, treats from the table, and water from the well. He is getting better slowly, but it will take some time.

Ode To Puppa ( Porcupine )
To my puppa Lucky,
You've earned a brand new name,
I call you puppa porcupine,
Though you are still the same.
You must learn the laws of nature,
Tough and tricky but still there,
The first one is for you my pup,
Quills are never hair.
Though porcupines look soft,
and fluffy for your rump,
If you try to sit on one,
You'll get up with a jump.
You mustn't touch what isn't yours,
or you will pay the price,
The bill is not worth knowing,
So my puppa,
Please play nice.

Today

I am super excited today because my family is coming for a visit to NH! I am really happy about it, because my Grandma is staying for on entire month! I am excited to show her all the cool stuff to do up here, and to show her our house, and our church, and everything! I can't believe today has finally come! I have been waiting patiently, and now that it's finally here I feel like I'm about to explode!

The reason my family is coming is because I am making my first communion tomorrow. My Aunt Michelle is my godmother, so she has to be here, and since my Uncle Rick is my sister's godfather, and she is getting baptized, he needs to be here too. I look forward to seeing them both. I wish I could make time go faster, that way you guys would arrive faster. I can't wait to see you!!!!!

So anyway, tomorrow is my first communion, and I have this really pretty dress ( picked  by Aunt Michelle and Grandma, thank you guys), a nice veil, and a tiara. I also have a shawl and some jewelry, donated by my Mom, and some beautiful white sandals. After my first communion, we are throwing an after-party. Family and friends are coming, so I am excited about that too. Man, I am full of excitement today!

So, that about wraps up this Think A Thought. I just want to thank you guys for coming all the way up here. I know you will fully enjoy your stay. I know that I can thank you when you get here, but I am still going to thank you right now, just in case that by some chance you might have a laptop with you.
See you soon,
Maddie

Poetry

Happy
I feel warm and tingly,
Deep inside of me,
I know this feeling well,
It is that I am happy.
I know not why I feel this way,
Outside I see a rainy day,
But relatives are coming,
and one is here to stay,
So I must double work myself,
So I have time to play.

Triple
Triple the music,
Triple the lights,
Triple binoculars,
So many sights!
Triple the laughing,
Triple the fun,
Triple much fun for everyone!
If you triple the cats you must triple the mice,
But mice make things go not-so-nice,
They drop triple the poop,
And triple the trouble,
Now don't you wish that you'd only said double?

The Monster: Dream Saga

Picture a peaceful, tranquil country side with a small house on it. Here, in this house, lives a small girl. Her name is Addie Tuckerman. She is sitting in her bed, writing in her diary. Suddenly, her mother comes in. "Addie," says her mother, " I think you are old enough to know the family secret." " Since the beginning of time, every girl has had a very strange dream since the age of 13. Today you turned 13, so if you get the dream, don't be surprised." Addie was about to ask what the dream was about when suddenly, the power went out. " Good night honey," said her mother, and left the room.

That night, Addie had the most terrifying dream. A gigantic monster was looking down on her, fiercely laughing. Then, the monster lifted it's foot menacingly, and went down to smoosh her. Just as the boot got close, long spikes came out of it. It was an inch away from her when she woke up, terrified and screaming. She knew that this was the dream her mother had talked about.

Many years later .....

Now the scene shifts to a big city in the United States. There is a big apartment complex now. Addie's great-great-granddaughter  is sitting in her room, listening to music on her MP3 player. The secret has been passed down for many generations now, and now it was this girl's turn to learn it.The girl's name was Trish, Trish Pentertree. Trish's mom came into the room, and spoke the exact same words that Addie had heard years ago. Only she added more.

"Over the years, we have discovered why we are cursed with this dream. A long time ago, a young girl held  a grudge against our family for an unknown reason. She sought out a way to make the family suffer. She was at a carnival one day, and met a strange old woman who told her she was able to make our family suffer- for a price. She would gives us the nightmares forever, but the girl must stay alive and suffer until a family member broke the spell." said the mother."You must find this old woman and break the curse, or else our family will be doomed forever! You must save us Trish. Do your best!"

TO BE CONTINUED LATER.......
