Poetry

In a world of magazines
Plastic and perfection
It can be hard to feel that you fit in
Just looking at your reflection
Pounds and pounds of makeup
Is what they recommend
But then they tell you to lose weight
'Round every other twist and bend
Turning on the tv now and look at what you'll find
Picture perfect Barbie dolls
All body and no mind
Who cares what your opinion is
Now go and curl your hair
Some get lost forever
In beauty's evil snare
The mirror will attack you
Do not let it consume
Because if you listen to its lies
It will lead you to your doom
I've watched so many people
Friend and family alike
Make their try to be perfect
And end without a life
Be wary of the lies
The corporations tell
Another coin for them
Could mean your own private hell.
