Lucky

I have not written about my dog in awhile, and I figured today was the perfect day to bring him up, since he will be 2 on the 6th of March. Birthdays are flying up everywhere... Ashleigh's, Dad's, and now Lucky's. I can't believe I have had my dog for roughly 2 years. They have been very memorable. He has since competed in 2 Halloween costume contests, placing 2nd in both.

The first year he went as a robot, and he was just over a year old. He ended up running out of his costume and stealing the show with his excellent tricks and adorable nature. The second year, he went as a karate guy and won second place for his skilled tricks, and the fact that a snobby poodle would not back off. That poodle wins every single year... AND IT WON'T EVEN DO IT'S STUPID TRICKS RIGHT!!!!! Lucky had the contest fair and square. He performed his tricks PERFECTLY, and that poodle couldn't even sit, even when it's butt was pushed down!

Moving on ...... >=(  Lucky now knows how to walk on his hind legs very well! This just adds to his list of tricks, which include:

Sit
Stay
Down
Up (stands on hind legs)
Come
Paw
Up and Come (walks on hind legs)
Roll Over
Kissies (licks hand)
No Bite
Goodnight (goes to crate)

Lucky also knows a few words. Many experiments have shown that dogs have the mental capacity of a two year old. Lucky remembers a good few words, including:

Food
Lucky's reaction to "food" is always perking his ears and sitting straight up. Even if he is sound asleep, he will wake up in a heartbeat for "food". Food also counts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which he also knows.

Bad
Lucky DEFINITELY knows bad. If I say bad, he sulks. If Ashleigh says bad, he shrugs it off. But if DAD says the b-word, Lucky knows that HE'S BEEN BAD. He hangs his head and his tail goes between his legs, and he sits like that for a minute before going into a sulky mood. After a few minutes, he snaps out of it and is happy.

Good Boy
Lucky loves those two words. Whenever he hears them, his tail wags at 100 mph and he opens his mouth so it looks like he is smiling.

Play
Lucky on New Years Eve
Lucky knows the word play, and whenever you say it, he will go right for his bone or whatever toy happens to be closest to him. If it doesn't look like you are going to play, he will consistently nudge you with the toy until you break down and play with him. Lucky can also identify a few of his toys, including: Wubba, Bone, Ball.

Out
Lucky will usually let you know if he wants out. He sits there looking at you, and if you guess out, he will wag his tail and bound over to the door. The one thing odd is that instead of barking to come in, he will leap up on the door and scratch it with his paws. The only times I hear my dog bark is when he is chained and can't see us, or when he is dreaming and sleep barks.

I hope you enjoyed this post about Lucky.
