Clutzy Me

Glass breaking in slow motionI am such a clutz. Today, I was helping Grandma make a turkey. I was oiling it, and had the oil I was using in a small glass bowl next to me on the kitchen counter. I finished oiling the turkey and opened the cabinet to get the seasoning to fix it up. The seasoning fell out of the cupboard on to me, and I flailed backwards. As I tumbled backwards, I knocked the glass bowl off of the counter and onto the floor. I bet you know what happened next.

Then, I cleaned up the glass. It had gone everywhere... behind the microwave, onto the stove, into the onions cooking on the stove, and into the toaster. The turkey was cooked for a long time with spices on it, and just came out of the oven 25 minutes ago.

Ok, so it is now after dinner. Everyone ate the turkey and enjoyed it, though it was a little dry. No one liked the stuffing but me. I don't know why, it had a great flavor and texture. The only thing that might turn some people off was the way it looked... barf.

Ok, I have only one more blog to do and then I am done with my work for today! Tomorrow I do my first course in songwriting- hurray!!! I will tell everyone how it goes in tomorrow's post.
Later,
Maddie

Promotion For My Dad's Website- Basset Hound Hideaway

The First thing you need to know is that this site is about you. Given that's the case, there are three special rules you need to know in regards to how I choose the dogs that are in my Hall of Honor and in my blog articles. I call them my every day specials...and there are three of them.

Special #1

If you volunteer at a Basset Hound Rescue or you provide foster care for Basset Hounds email me at wayne_nef@yahoo.com. Your dog or dogs will automatically be included in the Hall of Honor and I will write a short blog article introducing your pet to the community. I believe your hard work to help Basset Hounds should be recognized and I am happy to do it.

Also, if you work at a Rescue and you have a dog up for adoption that you want highlighted please let me know and I will try to put a nice introduction into the blog for the dog in question.

Special #2

I have a link on the right hand side of the page for the Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue donation page. If you make a donation to the Rescue (minimum $5) I will add your dog to the Basset Hound Hall Of Honor. To get your dog recognized in the Hall is really easy:

1. Click the link below or to the right.
2. Donate at least $5 (preferably more) via Paypal
3. Forward your PayPal receipt to: wayne_nef@yahoo.com along with a picture of your dog, your name, your dog's favorite hangout (ie your local dog park, hiking trail, etc.), and the dog's favorite treat.

Special #3

Buy something from our store (hosted by amazon.com) or through our advertising banners and email me what you bought along with a picture of your Basset Hound and some playful facts about your dog and I will feature them in a short blog article. Each article will include a picture of your dog and a few sentences. Please send those emails towayne_nef@yahoo.com and put Basset Hound Boutique article in the title. Please note that I may email you back for more info on your dog if it is needed.

This is my Dad's ad. I just copied and pasted it to my blog. If you'd like to check out his blog and get your dog featured on the hall of fame, please click here. You have to make a donation and have a basset hound to be featured. Look for more dog hideaways on the way soon!!!

Now on to my normal blog post. Our new stove arrived yesterday, so I have been baking, baking, baking. I have made bread, chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting, roast beef, and a DELICIOUS apple pie. Yum. I will write a paragraph on each and finally rate them at the end.

Bread-
First things first, the bread was starchy from the beginning. Second, it was also hard to knead. Hmmm... wonder how it'll turn out. Me and Grandma made it and kneaded it and baked it, and from all our labor all we got was a small, rock solid, disgusting little lump that was barely worthy of the title "bread". It almost broke my teeth, and was heavy and yucky in the center. The only thing that made it taste better was about a pound of butter and a gallon of jelly.

Chocolate Cupcakes w/ buttercream frosting (homemade)
"Those are the best cupcakes I have tasted in all my 74 years!" That was a direct quote from my Grandma after she tasted one of my delicious chocolate cupcakes. I used Pilsbury Dark Chocolate Cake Mix, and a recipe for frosting that came on the back of a WalMart icing pump. It was sooooooo good.... and the cupcakes came out perfectly moist.

Roast Beef- didn't make it, but it was rare and juicy and delicious- best I have ever tasted in all of my ELEVEN years.

Apple Pie-
The apple pie was delicious. Even though I was CONSTANTLY being told I was doing it wrong while I was making it, it came out delicious anyway. I added some maple syrup to the mix and also used brown sugar instead of white sugar. What a difference in flavor- so much better. The crust, which I made at home instead of buying one, came out crisp and buttery as well.

P.S. I know I promised you guys new stuff in my store each week, sorry I haven't had the time to do it! By Saturday, I promise!!!

Funny Photos

Sometimes, when I am browsing facebook I enjoy looking at funny pictures that people put up. Many of the pages have weird names, but are updated daily with hilarious photos. My favorite one is "If you're feeling down, here is a picture of a shaved llama." WHAT?!!!? See, I told you the names were weird. But the pictures are classic. *WARNING* Some are not meant for kids, so I will only put up a few. If you are going to look at more, please get your parent's permission. Here are my favorite funny pictures:

As you can see, some can be pretty stupid. But hey, isn't almost anything funny kind of stupid? I want to make this blog interesting, so I went and found a site where you can make your own captioned pictures. Here is one that I created using the site-

FLUFFY!!!!

Now, I propose a challenge- a funny challenge too- I challenge all of my readers to create a hilarious picture using the following link, and then save it on the site, and finally leave the link to your picture in the comments of this post. Do your worst, guys- or in this case, your funniest. The person with the funniest creation gets the picture featured in next Monday's Think a Thought!! The contest ends at 11:59 a.m. on Sunday, so please get your comments in by then.

Thanks,
Maddie

Ok, now back to business! Lucky's birthday is coming up, and he is going to be 2!!! I am going to get him a small tub of PupCream (a type of ice cream for dogs) and a bag of Puperoni Treat Stix, as they are his favorite treat. I also happen to have a $2 off my purchase coupon. I keep getting coupons and free samplers from the brand of dog food Lucky eats. While they don't look very appetizing to me, they do SMELL great. And Lucky seems to love them, so what the heck.

CONCERT IN JULY!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!

Yesterday, as I was looking online on Victoria Justice's facebook page, it said she was going on a summer tour. I took a look at some of the places she was playing, and one of them happens to be Holmdel NJ, which is close to where our NJ house is! So I asked Dad if he would take me in July to go see her, because she is my favorite singer, but he said no, because we might be busy. But then my Grandma said she would buy tickets for me and Dad, so now me and my Dad  and my Aunt Michelle are going on the 13th of July to see her perform!

I am very excited to go and see her. Victoria is my favorite singer and actress. I am going to take tons of pictures at the concert and then post them up. Other than that, nothing very exciting has happened. My mom came over today, and we all gave Dad his birthday gifts. Oh yeah... that reminds me.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST DAD EVER!!!!!

Well, technically it isn't Dad's birthday, but since I don't blog on the weekends I decided to say it now. Dad is going to be 47. The start of a better year will be here soon, I hope.

Ok, well me and Dad are going to leave to get the concert tickets now, so I am going to end my blog here.

Buy-Buy Mama

Just a few days ago, my Dad launched a new online business that might catch your interest more than stocks... Dad opened an online store designed for moms to shop at. He named his store- buy-buy mama. He has everything stocked in his store- baby food, clothes, furniture, safety equipment, and even stuff for older kids. There is a section where you can shop for relatives as well. If you know of anyone who shops for their kids on Amazon, tell them  to check out Buy-Buy Mama at:
www.buybuymomma.blogspot.com

Here is the ad I made for buy-buy mama-

I hope you will check out buy-buy mama and give it good publicity- someone already made a $150 purchase out of the store.

Thanks in advance,
Maddie

Plastic Disaster

ALERT! ALERT! DISASTER STRIKES IN NEF HOUSEHOLD!

Well, I guess it isn't really that big of a disaster... But I'll let my readers decide that for themselves. Here is what happened:

Dad had just left for his 6:30 karate class on 2/19/2013. Me, Ashleigh and Grandma were busy in the kitchen making stuffed peppers for dinner. We had turned the oven on to preheat it so we could bake our peppers. I had just finished stuffing the peppers when the phone rang. Grandma ran to get it and it ended up being my Aunt Michelle. As they were having a gab-fest, me and Ashleigh were busy turning out lights to play a game while we waited for dinner. The only light left on was the oven.

Naturally me and Ashleigh went over near the oven to stay near the light, and when we did, Ashleigh pointed to the oven and asked me, "what's that?". I looked in the oven, and there on the top rack, melting away into a puddle, was a big plastic mixing bowl. Me and Ashleigh ran to get Grandma, but by that time, there was nothing we could do but stare. The oven started emitting some nasty smelling fumes, so I hurried Ashleigh, Lucky and myself into the small office and closed the door. The air was still clear in there. Me and Ashleigh snuggled up in our sleeping bags next to Lucky and sat and waited.

Dad took the news very well when he came home, probably since he had just been to karate. Whenever he comes home from karate he is always happy. The plastic was melted and disgusting, and chemical smell filled the house at this point. We ate our dinner in the small office. We definitely need a new oven. So today we went out and we got a new one. It is much like our old one, with just slight changes. However, it cannot be delivered until Tuesday of next week, so Dad's party has to be put off until then.

That's basically the only excitement that happened to me since yesterday. We discovered who the guilty party was: Grandma. She had been in a hurry to clean up and had absentmindedly stuck the bowl in the oven. Then, when we turned it on, not knowing it was in there it melted. So what do you think? Tragedy or not?
